It is an adult learning approach that integrates experiential learning with dialogic questioning and critical analysis of how societal systems are stratified.
To support expansion of intergroup dialogue on campus, MIDC seeks diverse applicants with a range of skills and expertise to serve as facilitators. We welcome educators of all backgrounds and preparation levels to apply, including disciplinary content experts (for example, computer science, engineering, business, life sciences, and so on), those with deep knowledge of identity (such as gender, race, sexual orientation, among others), or a working knowledge of social justice concepts and frameworks.
For a limited time, MIDC is recruiting UMD faculty and staff to participate in a 6-session summer 2023 intergroup dialogue in exchange for $1000 stipend.

In exchange for $1000 stipend, selected faculty and staff members must agree to participate in all sessions for one of two intergroup dialogues:

Unless there are extenuating circumstances, selected faculty and staff should plan to sign up for a facilitation training and plan to co-facilitate a dialogue class during the 2024 academic year.
To ensure that you have the knowledge and skills to become a successful facilitator, MIDC is creating a microcredential program that includes the following components:
After earning an intergroup dialogue (IGD) microcredential, you are eligible to facilitate intergroup dialogue courses, which are offered as 1-credit, half-semester courses. Maryland Intergroup Dialogue Collaborative courses use a co-facilitator model in which two instructional faculty/staff or one faculty/staff and one trained student are paired to facilitate 4 - 7 week intergroup dialogue experiences for up to 16 students. Typically, first-time facilitators are matched with experienced facilitators.
