Scott
A. Wolpert: Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies
As
an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Scott
A. Wolpert is
responsible for third and fourth year program
matters. His
responsibilities include coordination with Maryland
community colleges
and the campus student success-graduation initiative.
He
is completing a term as Associate Dean of the
College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical
Sciences (CMPS) and has previously served as
Associate Chair of Mathematics. He is a former
Alfred P. Sloan Fellow,
a Distinguised Scholar-Teacher and a Professor
of Mathematics. He has
taught freshman calculus for many semesters and
with the support of his
department piloted the campus initiative for
group-work for calculus
recitation. He lead the CMPS effort for redesign
of the
secondary-education majors. His own research
focuses on the geometry of
families of Riemann surfaces. He received his
doctorate and masters
degree in Mathematics from Stanford University,
and his bachelors degree
from Johns Hopkins University.
