Who Can Apply: U.S.Citzens– AROTC, AFROTC, NROTC student from any university or college in the US; any year, major, or language level; contracted or non-contracted; on track to commission.

IMPORTANT: All eligible UMD students are invited to apply for a particular language program--students do not need to be ROTC. Only ROTC students may apply for the scholarship.

Description: Project GO (Global Officers) is a nationwide program sponsored by the Department of Defense at the National Security Education Program (NSEP). Project Go supports the study of 20 languages designated critical to national security by the U.S. government. Tese include:

Arabic, Azerbaijani, Chinese, Hausa, Hindi/Urdu, Kazakh, Korean, Pashto, Persian (Dari, Farsi, Tajik), Russian, Swahili, Tatar, Turkish, Urdu, Uyghur, Uzbek, and Wolof.

Award Amount: Funding benefits vary from program to program. Most scholarships cover tuition, room & board, class fees, airfare to the study abroad destination, etc. Please check with each program administrator to determine what exactly a program offers.

Duration: Summer study.
