A. APPLIED SIS TRAINING 9:00am - 10:30am Prerequisites: Attendees must have a SIS account. This session is designed for both advisors who are new to SIS and more advanced users who want to learn how to enhance their utilization of SIS. Using sample student situations, this session will illustrate a variety of SIS screens to enhance advisors knowledge of SIS as both a tool and a resource. This session is designed to be interactive; the content may vary depending upon the needs and questions of the participants. Topics covered: Introduction to screens that display current and historic registration data, transcript information, the Electronic Stamp Approval process, and course transfer equivalency; SCAT table usage for looking up field definitions; tricks and tips that allow easier navigation in the system.
B. INTRODUCTION TO ELMS 10:45am – 12:15pm This session is designed to teach advisors how to request a organization space on the Blackboard server, identify the different roles individuals can have in an ELMS space, upload and make a file available to students and other staff, create an announcement page, survey the Blackboard control panel and survey the scope of development, management assessment, and collaboration tools available in the Blackboard Academic Suite.
C. ADVISE ON THE WEB TRAINING 9:00am – 10:30am Prerequisites: ADVISE account with search and report feature This session is designed to show you how to use ADVISE on the Web's search and report feature to examine aggregate student data. Topics covered: How to enter general advising notes and view SIS notes; accessing detailed transcript information and other student data, including registration and personal information, special programs, and test scores.
D. DEGREE NAVIGATOR TRAINING 10:45am – 12:15pm Prerequisites: Degree Navigator account with write-level access This session is intended to show advisors how to use Degree Navigator to run and interpret student audits, apply exceptions for individual student audits, and to prepare senior audits and degree clearances. Topics covered: Exceptions for individual students including adding courses, removing courses, changing the required number of courses/credits, and changing catalog degree versions; tracking benchmarks; how to interpret degree descriptions; overview of formats for viewing student audits and reports.
